Bill Swink, one of the most successful high school wrestling coaches in Virginia will be leaving the Old Dominion to return to his hometown of Connellsville, PA as the head coach of his high school alma mater. The Virginia Wrestling Association (VAWA) would like to thank Coach Swink for his many years of service to the sport and wish him the best of luck in his new position.
The recently retired Activities Director at Spotsylvania High School has served many roles within VAWA, including his current position as State Chairman and was named State Chairman of the Year by USA Wrestling in 2015. Swink was a head coach for over twenty-five years, most notably at Colonia Forge High School, where he lead the Eagles to 16 District titles, 15 Region titles, and 6 State titles. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame- Virginia Chapter in 2016. Coach Swink was also named Virginia Coach of the Year on four occasions: 2004, 2007, 2012, and 2016.
Mark Roberts, the current Vice Chairman of VAWA, will assume Swink's role of State Chair for the 2021-22 wrestling season. Roy Hill, VAWA's Coaching Director will take over Roberts's position as Vice Chair, and current Greco Roman Director Rob Prebish will step into Hill's former position as Coaching Director.
