Hosted by Virginia Wrestling Association (VAWA) with the assistance of George Mason University and American University, the 2017 University National Freestyle Duals are coming to Fairfax, VA this Sunday May 21st! Coming from all over the country, teams will gather at George Mason University’s Fieldhouse (4501 University Drive, Fairfax, VA) to take the crown! Action begins at 9:30am with pool competition followed by Gold, Silver, and Bronze bracket competitions through completion.
With ACC, BIG 10, EIWA, EWL, MAC, and several DII programs being represented, teams vying for the 2017 University National Freestyle Duals title include:
With a 2kg weight allowance, each collegiate team will be made up of the following weight classes: 57kg, 61kg, 65kg, 70kg, 74kg, 80kg, 86kg, 97kg, 125kg
This event is open to the general public and admission for the day will be $20 for Adults, $10 for anyone Ages 12 & Under, and Free for Ages 6 & Under. This general admission includes all sessions and the clinic with Kerry McCoy from 9-11am.
All proceeds for this event go towards supporting local youth and high school wrestling initiatives along with the Dick Glover Scholarship for high school graduates.
Alongside these elite college programs will be local youth wrestling dual teams competing in the international styles of Freestyle and Greco-Roman.
