McHenry Wins Cadet World Gold!

Virginia's Kurt McHenry, a rising sophomore at St. Paul's School for Boys in Baltimore, MD defeated Mia Mammadzda of Azerbaijan 7-5 in the championship finals at 42 kg of 2016 Cadet World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia! He posted a perfect 4-0 record on the day to bring home his first World Championship! The Virginia Wrestling Association is proud of Kurt!

After a close 6-4 opening round win over Iran's Seyed Ali Seyedyahya Azimisiyacheghaei, McHenry rolled to two consecutive wins by tech fall: a 10-0 thrashing of Arakei Movsesya of Armenia, and a dominating 11-0 win over Russia's Magomed Abdurakhmanov in the semi-finals. He closed out the tournament with his 6-4 win over Mammadzda in the finals!

McHenry was a National Prep All-American for St. Paul's in 2016 after earning All-American status in Fargo in 2015.
