McHenry Wins Spot on UWW Cadet World Team!

2015 Cadet National All-American Kurt McHenry (St. Paul's School for Boys) earned a spot on the 2016 UWW Cadet World freestyle team at 42 kg by defeating Missouri's Jeremiah Reno in the best of three championship finals series two matches to one at the UWW Cadet Nationals in Akron, OH. McHenry won the first match by tech fall (10-0), but dropped the second round to Reno 13-5. With the series tied at one win apiece, McHenry finished Reno off with a 12-0 tech fall to earn his spot on the Cadet World team. He finished the tournament with a 5-1 record, all by tech fall.

Sherando's John Borst, a 2016 NHSCA Junior National Champion was the lone wrestler from the Commonwealth to place in both styles at the UWW Cadet Nationals. He finished 3rd in Greco and 8th in freestyle at 85 kg. And former Tabb wrestler Hunter Starner finished in 4th place at 63 kg wrestling for VMI, while Fauquier State Champion Matt Raines, now wrestling for George Mason University finished 8th in Greco Roman at 71 kg.

McHenry will travel to historic Tbilisi, Georgia in September to compete in the UWW Cadet World Championships.
