This season, we’re implementing a qualifying format for our Boys Kids’ Folkstyle State Wrestling Tournament. Wrestlers will now need to earn their way to the state tournament by placing in one of our qualifying tournaments.

We will have six qualifying tournaments in total.  Five qualifying tournaments are held throughout the state, where the top three wrestlers in each weight class will qualify for the state tournament.  One “Last Chance” qualifier will be held where only the champion will qualify for the state tournament.  This will create 16 person brackets for our Boys Kids State Tournament.

Some of the regional qualifying tournaments are still in negotiations and the locations and dates will be released soon.  Our goal is to, ideally, have all of the regional qualifiers take place between Feb 1-16 with the “Last Chance” qualifier on March 2 weekend.

More details will be released soon, but we wanted to get these dates and locations out for planning purposes.  We will also include some high level rules & guidelines below.

We would love to get any feedback, questions or concerns as we finalize the details on this exciting new opportunity for VA wrestlers.  Please submit any feedback here:
