VAWA is excited to continue our journey of growth and development by expanding our opportunities for athletes and coaches. With a focus on improving our youth state championships and recruiting top talent across the state, we are positioning ourselves to reach new heights.

To further our mission, we’re seeking your help in identifying leaders to join our organization. We’re adding several new positions that will play a key role in the continued success of VAWA.

1. Women’s Age Group Directors
In response to the tremendous growth of women’s wrestling, we are creating new roles to better serve our athletes. We’re expanding from one Women’s Director to three: Women’s Kids Director, Women’s Cadet Director, and Women’s Junior Director. These leaders will work closely with VAWA staff to coordinate events, manage national teams, and recruit the best talent across the state.

2. Regional Representatives
To strengthen our efforts at the local level, we are also introducing four Regional Representative positions across Virginia. These leaders will assist VAWA in creating a regional qualifying system for our kids folkstyle state tournament, focus on promoting wrestling in their regions, assisting in talent recruitment, and organizing regional tournaments.

Your nominations are vital to helping us find individuals passionate about growing the sport of wrestling and committed to leading us into the future. Below are descriptions of the responsibilities and qualifications for each of these roles.

Women’s Age Group Directors (Kids, Cadet & Junior)

• Coordination and Communication: Collaborate with stakeholders to execute VAWA events, distribute results, and manage national team registration.

• Training and Development: Work with VAWA staff to coordinate training camps and logistics for national team events.

• Recruitment and Development: Recruit top coaches and athletes for VAWA national teams and events.

• Team Management and Representation: Work closely with other directors and VAWA staff to lead national team coaches, manage athletes, and represent VAWA at industry events.

• Qualifications: Extensive wrestling coaching experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and a passion for advancing wrestling in Virginia.

• Desired Skills: Experience in coaching education, knowledge of Virginia wrestling, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

Regional Representative (North, Northwest, Central, East, Southwest)

• Regional Development: Promote wrestling by engaging schools, clubs, and communities, while fostering relationships and supporting VAWA events.

• Talent Recruitment: Assist coaching directors in identifying and recruiting top wrestlers and coaches.

• Tournament Organization: Plan and supervise regional tournaments, ensuring adherence to VAWA rules.

• Community Engagement: Represent VAWA by building relationships and promoting the organization’s mission within the region.

• Qualifications: Wrestling experience, knowledge of VAWA rules, communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams.

• Desired Skills: Event planning experience, knowledge of the regional wrestling landscape, and leadership abilities.
