10 New Kent starts the year at number 10 and return 103 pound medalist Mikey Emana along with three other state qualifiers Dylan Long (119),Willie Driscol (145) and Ethan Young (152).

9 Brentsville will be led by a pair of returning state medalist Scott Crane (4th-145) and Wade Swede (5th-160) and state qualifier Seth Henson (112).

8 Salem returns four wrestlers with state tournament experience which includes state placer Owen Marshall (8th-130), Steven Tuell (135), Forest Short (145) and Jake Semones (215)

7 Northside also returns four wrestlers who have competed in the Civic Center and are led by all-state wrestler Brady Craft (4th-152). These guys all hope to earn medals in ’09 Dustin King (112), Mason Agner (130) and Jordan Cooper (171).

6 Brookville’s Bees return only one state place winner Zeb Stewart (3rd-125) but have four others who have been to the big dance with him Eli Stewart (112), Kyle Broda (119), Nathan Shuler (145) and Corey Patterson (215).

5 Turner Ashby is led by returning state champion Bryce Kiser (135) and four other state qualifiers return to help the Knights start the season at number 5. Will Zigler (103), Alex Collins (160), Preston Campbell (171) and A.J. Sutherly (215) are the others who competed in Salem.

4 Millbrook returns 2008 171 pound state champion Derrick Borlie and 8th place finisher Ryan Bono (103) along with two other wrestlers who scored points at the state championships last season: Roy Deschon (135) and Allen Silver (189). They also add maybe the best freshmen in the state Jacob Crawford to the line-up

3 Poquoson’s Bull Islanders will be led by four returning state medalist: Steffan Baker (4th-112), Louis Shearer (7th-130), Cody Silva (5th-140) and Chase McAdams (3rd-152) they also have added former AAA state qualifier Patrick Foxworth to the stable.

2 Grundy returns six wrestlers who have been to Salem and all 6 came home last year with medals around their necks and three made it to the championship finals. Sean Vandyke (2nd-103), Jeremy Hurley (2nd-112), Derek Anderson (5th-119), Cody Rife (5th-125), Ethan Owens (2nd-130), Jon Dotson (7th-135)

1 Christiansburg returns seven, yes, seven state place winners led by 103 pound state champion Devin Carter, three other state finalist 119-Andrew Robertson, 160-Derek Woody, and 171-Braden Carter. The Blue Demons also have three other placers from last year’s state tournament Jeff Meredith (7th-112), Rich Eva (5th-145) and Jon Weber (5th-215) and two other state qualifiers Luke Rakes (140) and David Cheney (189). In addition to those guys, the return of Brock Buckner from injury and a very talented crop of freshmen add more depth for the Blue Demons. C’burg will be gunning for their 8th straight team title and look to be the clear favorites to do so.
