48 of VA’s best are competing in what is widely regarded as the toughest tourney in the country for national honors.  Lead by returning all-Americans:  Brandon Jeskie, Joey Dance, Blake Ruolo, Duke Pickett, Patrick Budd and Hunter Wright, Virginia is poised to have a strong showing.

USA Wrestling will provide unprecedented live coverage from the 2011 USA Wrestling Cadet & Junior Nationals July 16-23 in Fargo, N.D.

Every session will be streamed live with up to eight live feeds and fans will have the ability to chat and keep up to date with the tournament all week long.

Last year, USA Wrestling provided nearly 60 hours of live coverage. In 2011, there will be approximately over 390 live hours of wrestling, with coverage spanning 6-8 feeds at a time.

VAWA Training Camp at Colonial Forge Complete

Over the weekend, our VAWA National Team members completed the first of 5 opportunities for training camps.

June 3-5, wrestlers went to Colonial Forge High School to get prepared for the upcoming national events.

Remember each VAWA National Team member must attend 2 training camps. The 4 remaining camps are:

June 17-19th @ University of Virginia
June 24-26th @ Old Dominion University
June 27-29th @ Christiansburg
July 8-10th @ Virginia Tech

Congratulations on qualifying for one of the VAWA National Teams!

Just as last year, both the Cadets and the Juniors are headed for the National Tournament in Fargo, North Dakota.

The VAWA staff has put together a program to help your experience at Nationals be a memorable one. Below is a list of information and forms that each wrestler heading to Fargo needs.

VAWA National Team Information

VAWA Fargo Training Camp Sign Up

Attention all wrestlers: Those who qualify for Fargo must attend any 2 of the training camp sessions.

These sessions are open to any wrestler who is a member of USA wrestling, and would only have to pay $100 for food and lodging.

National Team Gear

All Cadets and Juniors that will be participating on the VAWA National Teams will need to order their equipment package online. You can access the online store here.

Interested In Becoming A VA National Team Coach

VAWA has begun the process of accepting applications for next year’s national team coaching staff. You can access the application by clicking here or you can find it under the COACHES section of this site.

In order to be selected the VAWA Coaching staff; the following criteria must be met:

  • Apply to be in the VAWA coaches pool (applications are available on the COACHES page)
  • Must have at least USA Wrestling Bonze level certification
  • Must volunteer your time in at least one of the VAWA state tournaments (See application)
  • Attend a VAWA national team training camp
  • Attend the VAWA fall meeting and/or the VAWA summit
  • All applications must be signed and ready for approval by December 30, 2010.

    2009-2010 VA Top 100 Results

    I would like to congratulate all of the finalists and everyone who participated last year in the VA TOP 100 points series. 85 kids participated in the series last year and I have had numerous emails this year from people inquiring about the series.

    This point series is geared to encompass all 3 styles of wrestling . Last year we had numerous participants that had done very well in the Folkstyle portion of the series and were at the top of the list but did not participate in the FR/GR portion and slipped down the list. Some of these participants communicated to me that they may try FR/GR this year so that does not happen. .. read more »
