I would like to congratulate all of the finalists and everyone who participated last year in the VA TOP 100 points series. 85 kids participated in the series last year and I have had numerous emails this year from people inquiring about the series.
This point series is geared to encompass all 3 styles of wrestling . Last year we had numerous participants that had done very well in the Folkstyle portion of the series and were at the top of the list but did not participate in the FR/GR portion and slipped down the list. Some of these participants communicated to me that they may try FR/GR this year so that does not happen.
The local tournaments are set up so every area has some, the Central & Eastern Region has responded but I need more tournaments in the South Western and Northern Regions. The Regional and National tournaments that are chosen have typically had many VA participants and are close geographically to give the majority an opportunity to compete. Tournament Directors if you would like your tournament on the approved list please contact me!
The top 10 participants in each division are listed below they all put in a lot of hard work and are to be congratulated. Virginia Youth wrestling is growing and getting better and better. We have kids, coaches and parents that are putting in a lot of time effort and money to raise the bar.
As with any new program there is some growing pains and you cannot please everyone. Due to a hard drive melt down this summer I lost all my contact info for the registered participants so if your wrestler is in the top 10 please contact me with their T-shirt size. I plan on giving them out at the 2011 VAWA Folkstyle State Tournament in February.
