LEXINGTON, Va.- VMI standout Josh Wine has been ranked 15th in the heavyweight division of the preseason InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Individual Rankings, according to information released recently. Wine is the highest-ranked sophomore in this year’s preseason rankings.

Trio of Grapplers Garner Top 20 Ranking

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Just two and half weeks removed from the beginning of the 2008-09 season, three Liberty wrestlers have received national recognition.

Tim Harner, Chad Porter and Chris Daggett were each listed among the Top 20 wrestlers in their respective weight classes, when InterMat, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and USA Today released the USA Today/NWCA/InterMat Team and Individual preseason rankings last week. .. read more »

Senior Wrestler Leads Way at Annual Blue/Silver Intersquad

NORFOLK, Va. — Senior NCAA Qualifier Ryan Williams led the way with two wins at the annual Blue/Silver Intersquad to kick off the 2008-09 wrestling season. Williams grabbed a technical fall and a decision, piling up 25 match points on the day. Byers Ranked 11th at 197 Pounds in InterMat Poll

MANHEIM, Pa. (October 24, 2008) George Mason wrestler Cayle Byers begins the season ranked 11th at 197 pounds in the first poll of the 2008-09 season released by /InterMat/. It is the third preseason poll to rank the Chugiak, Alaska native highly heading into the season. Byers and McLaughlin Named to VaSID All-State Wrestling Team

FERRUM, Va. (July 11, 2008)–A pair of rising sophomores were recognized for their accomplishments during the 2007-08 season on Friday afternoon when the Virginia Association of Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its first-ever All-State Team for wrestling. Amateur Wrestling News Names Two Monarchs to All-Rookie Squad

NORFOLK, Va. — James Nicholson became the first Monarch in program history to be named to the Amateur Wrestling News (AWN) First Team All-Rookie squad as he was only one of five first year grapplers to place in the national tournament. He beat out two nationally ranked opponents at 125 pounds for the CAA Championship in his first year and became an All-American with an 8th place finish at the NCAA Tournament.
